Ben Dicke has performed professionally in the Boston area for nearly 10 years. While studying at Berklee College of Music (’07) he has had the opportunity to work with some of the greatest players of the instrument including Ian Froman and Terri Lynne Carringtion. Currently he is known to be one of the more supportive and versatile musicians today, making hundreds of performances a year with Jazz, Rock, R&B and Country acts, as well as wedding and dance bands featured in private parties and special events. He is mostly known to record and perform as a regular member of such groups including: The East West Jazz Quartet, The Miss Fairchild Show Band, The Bold Type, Doug Kwartler, and The Resurrectionists.

As a teacher, his emphasis is on having fun while learning the instrument. Depending on the goals of the student he designs a step by step program which is focused enough to be effective while still flexible enough to adhere to each students’ level of enthusiasm and related progress. For beginners, he covers the topics of basic technique, time and pulse, understanding rhythm, snare and bass development, fills, dynamics, reading and playing along with recordings. For advanced students, he teaches the concepts of phrasing, world rhythms, rudiments and snare solos, listening while in performance, jazz coordination and vocabulary, four way coordination and developmental improvisations.
