Patrick Valentino's music studies have led him from America through Europe and Russia, all the while teaching, composing, conducting and performing. His eclectic background, coupled with his myriad interests, make Patrick a very versatile teacher.
Patrick attended Montclair University on full scholarship, and taught on the theory, brass, and piano faculty of the Montclair Preparatory School, and also maintained a studio in New Jersey for over 5 years. He graduated summa cum laude from Montclair University, one of the only schools in the country which offers classes in bodymapping, injury prevention, and music therapy, which he has continued to study and incorporates into his teaching method.
Despite Patrick's experience in teaching, the focus of his musical studies is composition and conducting; his music has been performed in the United States, Europe and Russia, and he was recently named assistant conductor of the Montclair Symphony.
Patrick was also trained at the Moscow Conservatory, where the premiere performance of his Lyric Pieces and Sonata583 were greeted with such acclaim that he was extended an open invitation by the Conservatory to return to study at any time.
In 2005 he was the recipient of the Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship, which led him to continue his studies at the New England Conservatory. Other awards and honors include the MSU Dean's Award and Composition Prize, two ASCAP Plus awards, the Ana Laura Hansen-Griffith Piano Scholarship, and the Carol H. Wasserman Piano Award.
