ANNA FREITAS

B.A. in Music

Berklee College of Music

Guitar

Born and raised in the Boston area, Anna started playing guitar at age fourteen and quickly became a participant in her High School Jazz band program. She continued her studies at Berklee College of Music, with a focus on songwriting, and music business. She achieved a Bachelor's in Music from Berklee in 1995 and has continued to study voice and guitar with various professional level instructors.

Anna has been perfoming consistantly since 1996 throughout New England with various projects. From 1997 she was lead guitarist for the funk/rock group Dr. Overseer as well as performing weekly in 1999 at the renowned Wally's Jazz Cafe. Since then she has honed her vocal chops and recorded a CD of original material, and has been performing with her rock trio as a singer/songwriter. Anna brings a wealth of teaching experience to Page Music, having been a full-time private instructor of all ages and skill levels for the past four years. As a result of her college level studies, she is able to help students with the academic aspects of music, such as theory and reading. Her gigging experience has enabled her to prepare students for real life situations as a performing musician, including knowing how to communicate in a band situation, stage presence, improvisation and songwriting.

Anna: "The most rewarding thing about teaching is the experience of watching the student improve. Learning guitar has its challenges. It's such a great feeling, though, when the patience and the practice pays off, things start to click, and the student grows as a player. Also, knowing that you have helped to open up and encourage an interest in music for a student, whatever direction it may take, is a positive thing in itself."

NOTE: Instructor Anna Freitas is currently accepting a limited number of students on Wednesday evenings. If you'd like to reserve a time slot, please contact us immediately.
