Pianist Leah Kosch is from the greater Cleveland area in Ohio and began to study the piano at age seven. Nearing the completion of high school, her interest and continued studies enabled her to win a high school concerto competition, and also won her first place in a regional rotary competition. Ms. Kosch continued her studies, and received a B.M. in music from Ohio State University followed by an M.M. in piano performance from the Longy School of Music. Her teachers have included Dr. Hugh Hinton and Dr. Caroline Hong. Since moving to Boston, Leah, as both a soloist and collaborative musician, has performed in Cambridge, Boston, Medford, and Arlington.
Ms. Kosch is also an active participant in contemporary music. She has performed in Longitude, Longy’s contemporary performance ensemble, and has taken part in SICPP, New England Conservatory’s contemporary summer festival, where she performed in Brown Hall and was coached by Stephen Drury. Leah has also done extensive research in extended playing techniques, and while at Ohio State, conducted a lecture recital on prepared pianos. Ms. Kosch has even taken part in a piece entitled “Musique du Table”, in which she plays on microphoned sound boards.
As a teacher, Ms. Kosch has years of experience teaching students of all ages, both in Ohio and in Boston. Leah is an excellent choice for students wishing to improve their understanding of classical and contemporary music. Leah is patient with beginning students, and also enjoys the challenge of working with advanced students.
