Violinist Sara Matayoshi earned recognition for her artistry as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician while making her solo debut with the Midwest Young Artist's Orchestra in 2002. A former member of the Chicago Civic and Madison Symphony Orchestras, Sara presently performs with the Atlantic Symphony, Boston Philharmonic, and Vermont Symphony. Sara's festival performances include Kent Blossom Music, Spoleto U.S.A., Internacionales de Musica de Guimareas, Meadowmount, Garth Newel Music, and Lyricafest. Ms. Matayoshi has collaborated with artists such as Aaron Berofsky, the VOX 4 String Quartet, and Lyrica Chamber Players. She is currently a member of the SKY piano trio.
In addition to performing, Sara possesses a great love for teaching. Previously a faculty member at Solo Classic Music in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Sara currently works as a teaching assistant for Laura Bossert at the Longy School of Music and Wellesley College. The process of learning and growth fascinate her and she shapes every lesson to accommodate individual needs and desires.
Sara holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University and is currently a Master of Music and Graduate Diploma candidate at the Longy School of Music. Her teachers include Vartan Manoogian, Gerardo Ribeiro, and Laura Bossert.
